Corrections officers remanded for alleged murder, assault

Four Lautoka corrections officers were produced at the Lautoka Magistrates Court today charged with the alleged murder and assault of remand prisoner Jone Masirewa.

Onisimo Raboiliku, Semesa Bulikalougata, Navitalai Kanavo and Suliasi Tubuna appeared before Magistrate Nayani Kasturiratne.

Raboiliku and Bulikalougata face a charge each of murder and assault causing actual bodily harm while Kanavo and Tubuna face one count each of assault causing actual bodily harm.

They have all been remanded in custody to appear in the Lautoka High Court on May 4.

Masirewa died at the Lautoka Hospital on April 14.
